Apr 23, 2020: Thirty-Four

I haven’t enjoyed today.

I don’t know why.

I’ve just found everything to be incredibly irritating. Literally everything. I don’t get it.

So I’ve taken to scouring the internet for recipes for things instead, so that I can spend next week in and out of the kitchen getting annoyed and irritated in there instead.

And, mainly, for something that’s just different to bread.

Don’t get me wrong, I love making me some bread or some cheesy hot cross buns or whatever, but I fancy doing something else. Admittedly, my recipe search has been somewhat bread based – chelsea buns, cinnamon buns and the like.

But it’s the thought that counts, I guess.

The problem with looking at recipes is that you could get your hopes up about making something – because if not now, when amiright? – but then when it comes to the shop delivery you find that something vital to your cause is missing because it’s been gathered up in huge quantities for survival and your entire recipe goes to shit. Now is the perfect time to try all the fancy things I’ve seen in Good Food magazine and the like but only getting half the stuff would be annoying – because you know it’d be the fresh stuff you’d get, and you’d end up having to cobble something else together so as not to waste things.

And, really, most of the stuff that I really drool over is cheesecakes and the like – you know, the stuff you see and think “oh, I need a decent excuse to make that…” and being at home probably isn’t the best excuse to wade through mountains of that.
