Dec 24, 2020: Christmas

It’s only bloomin’ Christmas Day tomorrow.

A weird Christmas day filled with Zoom calls and hastily arranged family phone calls and things. It’s a weird day. A lonely day for some, a day still too people-heavy for others.

It’s been a weird year. And now it’s a weird Christmas.

And the main thing to take home from all this is that Christmas is only one day, really. It’s only one day that no-one really gives a shit about the religious significance of, but that everyone piles onto as much as possible because it’s Christmas.

But it’s one day.

And then it’s done.

So, basically, whatever happens tomorrow, or doesn’t happen tomorrow in some cases, just remember it’s only one day and that day is still what you make it. And at the end of the day, as the clock strikes midnight (if anyone still has clocks that strike midnight, that is) the day will be over and not only will it have been what you made it, but you will also – more importantly – have made it. You’ll have got passed the one day of the year that everyone puts waaaay too much pressure on for everything to be a certain way because of tradition or whatever.

Just make it through.

That’s all you can do.

That’s all you have to do.

It’s just a day.

You got this.
