The previous iteration of this site was a personal blog which I wrote, daily, for over ten years ending in April 2021 when it because apparent that a year of lockdown living did not make for five-hundred words a day content. When I changed the design, and purpose, of this site to what it is now, I had the daunting task of hiding over 3800 blog entries whilst resisting the urge to read them all.
I used to work in the Banking industry, but all that ended in 2016 when the hammer of redundancy drove home the nail of job loss. I then moved on to be a Game Master at an escape room in Huddersfield where I got to lock people up for fun. I left that job in September 2022 in a bid to save some of my remaining sanity and my relationship.
Neither the banking or the escape rooming put my degree in Colour and Polymer Chemistry to good use. My parents must be so proud!
I am an avid gamer and wrote for Ready Up for several years. I will be collecting the articles I wrote for that site over here for posterity. I have set up a YouTube page which currently has nothing on it, and occasionally stream on Twitch, with a view to making that a more regular occurrence.
As well as gaming – both video and board, I enjoy reading, writing, comedy, TV and movies.
I used to say that I stopped listening to music when Steps split up. But then they reformed and ruined what was, up to that point, a finely crafted tagline. My day-to-day soundtrack is currently provided by the Discover Weekly feature of Spotify. And Radio 4 comedy, because it’s brilliant.
I’ve had a Blue Peter badge since I was about thirteen, but I never took advantage of any of the free entry offers. And then people selling their badges on eBay ruined that for everyone. I was also a member of Rolf’s Cartoon Club but we don’t talk about that anymore.
Should you want to, I can be reached on all the usual social media things, under the username Geofortean or by clicking on the little icons in the bottom left of the screen.
Or you can email me.
